Monetizing that aspect of the game just rubs me the wrong way (it's akin to letting COD or Battlefield players straight up buy the best guns without working for them, imo). And now that I'm seeing they're gonna shove microtransactions into Diablo 4 I probably won't touch it unless it goes f2p.Ī huge part of the appeal of Diablo (and other loot-based ARPGS) was grinding for loot that made your character look cooler and cooler. I got back into it on console once they released the expansion and banished the Real Money Auction House, but the damage was done. StarCraft 2 kinda bummed me, but launch Diablo 3 was probably the most disappointing turd I've ever played. Since releasing WoW they've completely changed for the worse. International politics aside, they aren't the Blizzard I grew up with. To be honest, it would have to completely blow me away for me to even consider giving Blizzard a single cent. I like my video games like I like my movie or pop stars, I want to be entertained by them but I don't give a crap what their political or personal views are, I just want to be entertained Its going to turn into Modern Warfare where new games are released every year to just milk what they can.Īs far as the whole Blizzard climate goes, I think they shouldn't have bowed to them, but I also don't want games to be a political platform either, so either its a political platform or it isn't, so I understand their decision at the same time. Maybe start a new franchise, same engine and such, but just different, different story, different universe, different classes, or hell just come up with some original classes besides the barb mage and druid. Even the classes aren't exactly new, sure there's the druid, but ho-hum, same old kind of druid. We were HUNGRY for a new Diablo The D4 stuff I've seen doesn't really get my motor going if you know what I mean. With the 15 or so years between D2 and D3 I think there was more to be excited about. D3 was great, for a while, but it just turns into one big grind.
